This year, after three years of battling, The Coven have been included in Wigan's Food & Drink Festival.  As the only specialist vegan/veggie/coeliac restaurant in the area we are proud of our stand on food quality.  To really get veggie food on the food 'map' of Wigan and to raise awareness of wheat & gluten intolerance we think it would be great if we could win this years 'Restaurant of the Year.' As part of the festival we'll be holding one of our very popular 'Raw' Gourmet Nights on March 6th and a live demonstration of Raw cuisine in the Festival Marquis at 11:30am Saturday 11th March.  (PS. Voting closes March 11th 2012 - so please get your vote in early - thanks). We are pleased to annouce the arrival of new menus.  From November we're offering both a new daytime menu and a new Thursday evening menu.

Daytime specials for the week are taken from the current evening menu.

These menus are 100% vegetarian with over 50% vegan and almost 100% wheat & gluten-free.

Whilst the Gourmet evenings have been a fantastic success, Maria & I have struggled to maintain the level of activity whilst also keeping the daytime menu interesting. We have therefore decided to make some changes in order to be more accessible to our customers and limit wear & tear on us! We have therefore decided to make some changes...

  • To change Thursday evenings from a special 'bookings only' night to a 'open-house' - staying open from 10:30am 'till later with last entry by 8:30pm. A monthly evening menu will be available plus a new daytime menu. For the evenings, advance booking still recommended but not essential as we'll operate very much like lunchtimes. This Thursday evening is closed - starting from Thurs 10th November.
  • To have weekly specials, rather than daily as currently - this will allow people to get more chance to enjoy the specials across the week. The specials will be selected from the evening menu.
  • To close /every/ Monday so we can get an extra day R&R and also give time to work on workshops, menu and videos

We hope you'll agree that this should result in a better Coven all round!
